1. Simple ask Analogy

Simple direct Analogy has three terms. Two have some relationship and you have to choose from the alternatives one which has the same relationship.

Examples.-

1. Skating is related to Rink in the same way as Wrestling is related to?

(a) Course                           (b) Track

(c) Pool                               (d) Arena

Ans.- (d) Arena

Explanation.- Wrestling game is related to Arena

2. Current is related to Ampere in the same way as Force is related to?

(a) Joule                               (b) Watt

(c) Newton                        (d) Pascal

Ans.- (c) Newton

Explanation.- Newton is a unit of Force

2. Number Analogy

Number Analogy has two number/pairs bearing a relationship. There is also the third number/pair which has the same relationship from the alternative. You required to find that alternative.

Example.-

1. 16 : 240 , 82 : 6642 , 26 : ?

(a) 676                               (b) 650

(c ) 754                              (d) 480

Ans.- (b) 650

Explanation.-

16              16 x 16 - 16 = 240

82              82 x 82 - 82 = 6642

26              26 x 26 - 26 = 650

2. (1, 2, 4, 7) : (3, 4, 6, 9) :: (0, 1, 3, 6) : ?

(a) (2 , 3, 5, 8)                   (b) (1, 3, 4, 7)

(c ) (2, 4, 5, 8)                   (d) (0, 2, 5, 7)

3.Completing the Analogous Pairs

In these types of Analogies, two words are give. These words are related to each other in some or other way. Another word is also given. The candidate is required to find out the relationshp between the first two words and choose the word from the given alternatives, which have the same relationship to the third word, as between the first two.

Examples.-

1. Mars: Mangalyan:: Moon:?

(a) Bhaskara                  (b) Chandrayan

(c ) Aryabhata               (d) Aryan

Ans.- (b) Chandrayan

Explanation.- The spacecraft landed on the moon was Chandrayan by the India Space Research Organisation.

1. Curd: Milk, Shoe:?

(a) Leather                          (b) Jute

(c ) Silver                             (d) Cloth

Ans.- (a) Leather
